The latest Injury Update for Boston Celtics vs. Atlanta Hawks

THE CELTICS REPORT

Boston guard Marcus Smart believes the Celtics will need to be more physical in Game 4 to win.

In Game 3, Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 29 points. He grabbed ten of Boston’s 29 rebounds.

“I didn’t think we were gonna win every game in the playoffs,” Tatum admitted. “They played well (Friday night). We come back, get some rest, watch film, learn from it, and I’m extremely motivated and confident that we’re going to play better next game.”

The contribution of Grant Williams, who did not participate in the first two postseason games, was one positive for Boston in the loss.

Williams came off the bench on Friday and made all four of his field goal tries, all of which were 3-pointers. He ended up with 14 points.

“One of the strengths of our team this year is, regardless of (the situation), guys are always ready to play,” Boston coach Joe Mazzulla said.”So, it says a lot about him being ready to play, and I think things like that help a team in a playoff run.”

Smart stated on Saturday that he is experiencing tailbone soreness and is unsure if he will play in Game 4 against the Hawks on Sunday, according to Jay King of The Athletic.

In the third quarter of Game 3, Smart landed on his tailbone while attempting to grab a rebound.

Despite being briefly replaced, he finished the game with 24 points, eight assists, three rebounds, and three steals in 33 minutes. If he is unable to play on Sunday, Malcolm Brogdon will almost certainly get greater playing time.

Gallinari (knee) will miss Sunday’s game against the Hawks.

Gallinari’s return to the Celtics in the postseason has not been ruled out. His next opportunity to play will be against Atlanta on Tuesday.

THE HAWKS REPORT

When the Atlanta Hawks try to tie their Eastern Conference playoff series with the visiting Boston Celtics by winning Game 4 on Sunday night, they will be looking for another big game from guard Trae Young.

After dropping the first two games of the series in Boston, Young led the Hawks to a 130-122 victory on Friday night.

Young hit 12 of his 22 shots from the field and finished with nine assists and six rebounds.

It was by far his best performance of the season. During the first two games in Boston, Young went 14-for-40 from the field.

The Hawks defeated the Celtics for the first time this season on Friday.

Boston won all three regular-season meetings, in addition to the opening two games of the series.

Atlanta outscored Boston in the paint 54-40 and outrebounded them 48-29 on Friday night. The Hawks pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.

In Game 3, Atlanta saw seven players score in double figures, giving the Hawks their highest points in a playoff game since a 137-125 win over Detroit in 1986.

Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks scored 25 points in Game 3 and, like Young, was at his best in the fourth quarter, when the Celtics threatened to grab a 3-0 series lead.

Young (15 points) and Murray (seven points) combined for 22 of Atlanta’s 30 points in the final 12 minutes.

There are no injured players of the Hawks for today’s game.
