FOR THE TIMBERWOLVES

Minnesota, despite its Friday overtime loss to Brooklyn (124-123), finds itself in a more favorable playoff position. In the Western Conference, the Timberwolves are currently tied for seventh with Dallas. Despite playing four of their next five games away from home, they are only one game behind No. 6 Golden State.

The two teams will face one other twice more this year. Five consecutive wins for Atlanta over Washington.

Against Brooklyn, Edwards had 32 points. It was his 20th game with at least 30 points and his second straight 32-point performance after scoring 32 in a defeat to Philadelphia. In his career versus Atlanta, he is averaging 14.3 points per game.

Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves has now missed 47 games due to a significant calf strain. Last week he did some drills on the court, but he is still unable to play.

Jaylen Nowell’s left knee ailment has forced him to sit out the last six games, and Austin Rivers was out on Friday with back spasms.

Back discomfort kept Atlanta’s Bogdan Bogdanovic out of action last time around.

Gobert‘s status for Monday’s game against the Hawks is in doubt due to his left ankle sprain.

While Gobert was able to continue playing after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter on Friday, the injury appears to have swollen up on him since then. He plans to give his ankle a try at Monday’s shootaround, but if he can’t play, Naz Reid would be a good option for a spot start and as a streamer if he doesn’t.
