Jaylen Nowell’s left knee ailment has forced him to sit out the last six games, and Austin Rivers was out on Friday with back spasms.

Back discomfort kept Atlanta’s Bogdan Bogdanovic out of action last time around.

Gobert‘s status for Monday’s game against the Hawks is in doubt due to his left ankle sprain.

While Gobert was able to continue playing after rolling his ankle in the fourth quarter on Friday, the injury appears to have swollen up on him since then. He plans to give his ankle a try at Monday’s shootaround, but if he can’t play, Naz Reid would be a good option for a spot start and as a streamer if he doesn’t.

On Monday, the Atlanta Hawks will host the Minnesota Timberwolves in an effort to boost their dwindling playoff prospects and secure a spot in the regular season.

On Saturday, the Hawks lost to the Celtics, 134-125. With only 14 games remaining, they are 4.5 games behind the New York Knicks for the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Atlanta trails Miami by 1 1/2 games for seventh place; the top six finishers all qualify for the postseason.

It has taken the Atlanta Hawks and their new head coach, Quin Snyder, three games since the All-Star break to grow comfortable with one another. After allowing 20 made 3-pointers to the Celtics, Hawks coach Quin Snyder is calling for a refocusing on defense.

Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics was dismissed after he and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks got into a fight that resulted in them wrestling on the court.

As for the encounter itself, Young claimed he had “nothing much to say,” while Snyder claimed he was more worried about other things.

Young led the Eastern Conference with 10 games averaging at least 30 points and 10 assists after scoring 35 points and dishing out 13 assists versus Boston.
