While it has been confirmed that Ada Wong will return in future Resident Evil games, the specifics of her role in the RE4 remake have not been revealed. Notably, Capcom’s remakes have been more grounded and character-driven than the original titles, which has resulted in Wong becoming more nuanced since the Resident Evil 2 remake was released.

A few low-resolution images have surfaced on the internet showing how Ada Wong has been altered for the Resident Evil 4 remake. Wong still runs around the Spanish countryside in high heels, but her overall look is less flashy than it was in the first game. Practicality seems to have been taken into account more by Capcom in almost every part of the remake, which should help set a more serious tone overall.

Since Capcom is taking out some of the cheese in Resident Evil 4 now that the whole thing is being redone, this was the perfect chance for the developers to look at Wong’s role in the story again and maybe even make her a more interesting character. Since she is working with the notorious Albert Wesker at this time, it’s possible that he will be in the remake in more than just a cameo role, but Capcom has yet to show us what they’ve done with the story.

In Resident Evil 4 previews, critics have noted that Capcom may well be on its way to exceeding the quality and replayability of the 2005 original, and it’s entirely reasonable that Wong herself will get to play an even more memorable role as she gets to toy with Leon throughout the story. In fact, it’s possible that Wong will have a larger role in the remake, though fans will have to wait and see.

In the meantime, Resident Evil fans who can’t wait until late March may want to revisit the game’s recent playable teaser, as some have speculated that the RE4 Chainsaw Demo may contain more secrets to discover. Given how well-designed the demo is, these are almost certainly intentional, so fans may want to see what they can find before the game’s official release.
