Let’s get started.

1. Tua Tagovailoa

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) is expected to return as the Dolphins’ starting quarterback during the 2023 season, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Tagovailoa will miss Sunday’s wild-card game against the Bills due to his concussion protocol. Tagovailoa may return to the field if Miami advances in the playoffs, but regardless of Sunday’s result, the quarterback has decided on his long-term playing future.

Since his second concussion of the season in late December, Tagovailoa hasn’t been cleared to play football, but Schefter reports that medical professionals believe he can return to the NFL.

UPDATE (Jan. 13): Tagovailoa (concussion) is still not cleared for football activities, so he won’t play in Sunday’s playoff opener against the Bills, as announced by Coach Mike McDaniel on Wednesday.

The Dolphins are reportedly optimistic that he will be able to play this Sunday against the Bills despite suffering his third significant concussion of the season.

After a thrilling victory over the Patriots in which they returned not one but two kickoffs for touchdowns, the Bills are riding high.

While it would be in Miami’s best interest for Tua to suit up, he must first receive medical clearance. Teddy Bridgewater’s dislocated pinky is unlikely to prevent him from playing if he is not given the green light to do so.

2. Lamar Jackson

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Lamar Jackson (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Cincinnati, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

UPDATE (Jan. 13):  Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reports that Lamar Jackson didn’t practice on Thursday because his left knee “remains unstable”.

John Harbaugh isn’t saying much about Lamar Jackson’s condition, opting instead to play “hardball.”

He was injured in Week 13 when his knee was jammed into the ground, tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (PCL). We will find out on Wednesday if Lamar can join the Ravens for practice.

3. Gus Edwards

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Gus Edwards (concussion) is not injured for Sunday’s playoff opener against the Bengals.

Edwards, who previously reported clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol, was listed as a full practice participant Friday, allowing him to play in the Ravens’ backfield this weekend.

UPDATE (Jan. 13): Gus Edwards (concussion) was listed as a limited practice participant Thursday.

The running back didn’t participate in Wednesday’s practice, but he’s back in some capacity now, which bodes well for his chances of being healthy enough to play in Sunday’s playoff game against the Bengals. However, if Edwards doesn’t get in a full practice on Friday, he’ll likely be listed as questionable for the weekend.

Gus Edwards left Sunday’s game against Baltimore with a head injury. He was starting in place of regular starter J.K. Dobbins, who was being rested for the playoffs.

Edwards has been placed on the concussion protocol list. If he wants to play on Sunday, he needs to get the all-clear.

Edwards is the more physical runner of the two, so it’s important for the Ravens to have him healthy for the playoffs.

4. Raheem Mostert

UPDATE (Jan. 15): Raheem Mostert (thumb) will miss Sunday’s playoff game in Buffalo.

UPDATE (Jan. 13): According to Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald, Raheem Mostert (thumb) was not present for Thursday’s practice.

He also did not practice on Wednesday, with a thumb injury threatening his availability for Sunday’s playoff game against the Bills.

Raheem Mostert, another running back for the Miami Dolphins, reportedly broke his thumb in Week 18. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, and he is currently listed as “in doubt” for this week’s game against the Bills.

Mike McDaniel says, “It’s a serious injury,” so he may not play on Sunday despite the importance of the game for Miami.
