When speaking to the women at the Water Queen’s House in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will be asked to kill Redhammer to avenge the drowned villagers. However, this decision is not straightforward and requires careful consideration of the consequences.

To Kill or Spare Redhammer the Deviser in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you kill Redhammer before completing the quest to reach the Iron Throne, you will disable the only way to access the Throne using Redhammer’s submarine. This means you cannot save Wyll’s father who is imprisoned there and clear the Foundry. With Redhammer dead, defeating Gortash will also be much more difficult.

Reaching the Iron Throne is important as you can rescue many hostages including Archduke Ravengard. You need Redhammer alive to pilot the submarine. Once at the Iron Throne, you can split up your party to save more people before Gortash blows it up. With Redhammer’s help, you gain access to key quest areas and NPCs.

If you kill Redhammer after clearing the Iron Throne, there are no real negative consequences. You can report back to Allandra Gray and hand Redhammer over to the Waveservants for revenge. They will reward you for delivering the man responsible for drowning their people. However, sparing Redhammer will cause the Waveservants to attack you on sight later.

Ultimately, the decision rests with you. Redhammer is a murderer in the eyes of the Waveservants but also vital for progressing important quests in Baldur’s Gate 3. The optimal choice is relying on Redhammer’s skills until the quests are complete, before allowing the Waveservants their vengeance.
