While it is unclear how many teams have approached Judge, the Yankees have stated that they are working hard to keep their right fielder.

Judge famously turned down a seven-year, $213 million contract from the Yankees during Spring Training. On Thursday, general manager Brian Cashman announced that the team had made a new, updated offer to the AL MVP.

Aaron Judge won the American League MVP award on Thursday night, which means he can now focus solely on his free agency.

Cashman said.: “It’s in real time, so we’re on the clock, we’re certainly not going to mess around. We’ve made an offer since Spring Training, yes.”

Cashman stated that the team approached him about a new contract the day after New York’s season ended. Because Judge refused to enter into contract negotiations during the season.

Furthermore, Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner revealed that he and Judge spoke several times since the season ended.

Steinbrenner said: “No doubt about that. He knows that. I’ve absolutely conveyed that I want him to be a Yankee for the rest of his life.”

While the Yankees have not been shy about trying to entice Judge to return to New York, Judge has been relatively quiet about his plans.

While the right fielder has previously expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play for the team, he took a more diplomatic approach when discussing his focus during free agency.

During the MVP announcement show, Judge stated his top priorities for the team with which he signs.

He said: “For me, I want to win. I’ve come pretty close with the Yankees. My ultimate, most important thing is I want to be on a team with a winning culture and a commitment to winning. First and foremost, it’s a winning culture and a winning future.”
