Taylor Swift on Her Style Influences & Classic Fashion Sense

Taylor Swift has opened up on her personal style. The singer says she often takes her fashion inspiration from the 50s through to the 90s and loves to look to the past for ideas. However, she admits she prefers to have a timeless look because she thinks it’s the way to avoid looking like a fashion victim in the future: ”I like to wear pearl earrings, I like red lips. I figure if I stick to classics I won’t have as many cringe-worthy moments looking back 25 years from now.”

Opening up on what stars she finds stylish, Taylor says she often looks to ‘Girls’ actress Lena Dunham and Zooey Deschanel for fashion ideas: [For] fashion inspiration … Lena Dunham always has great websites and shops at great stores. She always tells me her newest obsession, whether it [is] a new website, a blog or a store, she’s really good with that stuff. And Zooey Deschanel is one of the most fashionable people I know.”

Taylor is the new face of Keds footwear and says she loves how timeless their designs are. She says that she doesn’t usually spent a lot of time putting together outfits and Keds have effortless shoes that are simple to wear:  ”No I don’t actually, I decide what I’m going to wear five minutes before I walk out of the door. I shop where most girls shop. I think the whole purpose of Keds is to portraying something classic and easy and fun and casual. The fact that Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn wore Keds, you look back and they looked just as great then as they do now. Some things are classic.”
