Subnautica Developers Announce Chance to Play Moonbreaker Early

Moonbreaker is set to be released in early access later this month, but those interested in the game will soon be able to play it even sooner. Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero creators revealed this week a series of Steam preview weekends leading up to the game’s release, during which players will be able to play almost the entire version of Moonbreaker.

The first preview weekend will take place between September 9 and September 11, and the second will take place between September 16 and September 18. For testers, the entire game will be unlocked, though some in-game systems and the store will be disabled.

To participate, simply log into Steam and go to Moonbreaker’s Steam page, then click the “Request Access” button under the “Join the Moonbreaker Playtest” section to register your interest. After you’ve confirmed your request, you’ll have to sit tight and wait for an email from the developers to see when they’re ready for participants to jump in and explore the Reaches.

According to the developers, players will be able to try out different “Captains” to guide their armies of various units, as well as use the game’s unit painting feature. One of the big selling points of Moonbreaker was the ability to paint digital versions of different figures in this tabletop-like game, so those looking forward to this game will be pleased to hear that whatever creations you come up with will be carried over to the full game.
