Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Guide – Best counters & movesets for Chesnaught 7-Star Tera Raid

Chesnaught Tera Raid counters 1

Best build

  • Ability: Good as Gold
  • Nature: Modest
  • Tera Type: Steel
  • Hold Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 Atk, 252 Sp. Def, 4 HP
  • Moveset: Flash Cannon, Make It Rain, Nasty Plot, Metal Sound

Gholdengo’s resistance and defense against Chesnaught are formidable. He’ll be immune to Fighting typing while resisting Rock and Grass. When you use his Steel-type moves, you will deal a lot of STAB damage.

Nasty Plot can be used at the beginning of the fight to gain a temporary four-stage boost to your special attack. Then, employ Metal Sound to cause a two-stage drop in Chesnaught’s special defense. The next step is to repeatedly use Flash Cannon until you have enough health to use your Tera Orb, and then repeat this process until Chesnaught is yours.

Iron Leaves

Best build

  • Ability: Quark Drive
  • Nature: Adamant
  • Tera Type: Grass
  • Hold Item: Electric Seed
  • EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def
  • Move set: Electric Terrain, Leer, Swords Dance, Leaf Blade

If you found an Iron Leaves, you should use it against Chesnaught. It should already have perfect IVs, allowing it to hit hard and withstand a lot of punishment. Make sure to use Quark Drive in conjunction with Electric Terrain to boost defense with that and the Electric Seead.

Best build

  • Ability: Defiant
  • Nature: Adamant
  • Tera Type: Ghost
  • Hold Item: Shell Bell
  • EVs: 252 Atk, 252 HP, 4 Def
  • Moveset: Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Rage Fist, Screech

Annilape’s typing already mitigates the impact of Chesnaught’s Fighting and Rock-type attacks, but Bulk Up will increase your Primeape evolution’s survivability by increasing its Defense and Attack stats, allowing it to prepare to counter.

However, the Rage Fist attack is the ultimate attacking move in this build and one of the best Chesnaught Tera Raid counters. Since Rage Fist’s power increases by 50 with each hit the user takes before fainting, it can potentially knock out Chesnaught in only a couple of hits if used in conjunction with Annihilape’s Bulk Up Attack boosts at the right time.

So, in sum, Goldengho, Annihilape, and Iron Leaves are the best Pokemon Scarlet and Violet counters to the 7-star Tera Raid boss Pokemon Chesnaught.
