Jennifer Aniston has announced her father’s death. John Aniston died on Friday at the age of 89, and the Friends actress broke the news to her fans earlier today when she posted a collection of family photos to her Instagram page.

Jennifer, who recently revealed her IVF attempts, wrote in a heartfelt tribute: “John Anthony Aniston, sweet papa.

“You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less!”

The Rachel Green actress went on to say: “You had impeccable timing. That number will always have a special meaning for me. I’ll cherish you until the end of time.

“Don’t forget to visit.”

One of the first people to comment on Jennifer’s touching post was model Helena Christensen, who wrote, “He looks so wonderful such tender smiling eyes, sending you so much love.”

“Great face gorgeous father Sending [love],” Andie MacDowell added her congratulations, while The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco and Chelsea Handler sent theirs via love-heart emoji comments.

Jennifer’s father was best known for his role on Days Of Our Lives as Victor Kiriakis, which he began playing in 1985 and continued for more than three decades.

Earlier this year, the late star was honored with a Daytime Emmy lifetime achievement award.

Jennifer presented the award to her father in June of this year, calling the occasion “truly special” as she delivered a pre-recorded speech.

“It’s an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it’s also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievement of a great and well-respected actor who also happens to be my dad,” the star said. “John Aniston has been working in television consistently for over half a century.”

She continued by listing John’s numerous television appearances over the years, joking that her father had appeared in “nearly every soap opera imaginable.”

“You name it, I’m sure he’s been on it,” Aniston joked as she handed her father the award.

“However, he has made his television home with the cast and crew of the long-running soap opera ‘Days of Our Lives,’ where he has given masterful performances as the dangerously handsome, perpetually suave businessman Victor Kiriakis since 1985.”

“For over 30 years, his dedication to that show has gained him respect and admiration of his fellow actors, deep friendships, and thrilled millions of fans around the world,” the Hollywood actress continued. “His career is literally the definition of lifetime achievement.”

In addition to his work on the long-running American soap, John has appeared on shows such as The West Wing and Star Trek: Voyager, as well as made cameo appearances in popular series such as Gilmore Girls and Mad Men throughout the 2000s.

Jennifer’s late mother Nancy Dow married John in 1965 and welcomed The Morning Show actress and her sibling Alex into the world before the couple divorced in 1980. He later remarried, this time to Sherry Rooney.

Nancy died in 2016 at the age of 79, after suffering two strokes in 2011 and 2012.

Jennifer reportedly required therapy following John and Nancy’s divorce for abandonment issues stemming from her father’s departure from the family home when she was only nine years old.

Jennifer and John’s relationship became stronger than ever after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as they reconciled and spent more time together.

“Jen forgave her father for walking out a long time ago. But their relationship has had its ups and downs,” a source close to John told the MailOnline in April 2020.

They went on: “Jennifer hadn’t spoken to him in ages. However, she has been on the phone almost every day since the coronavirus outbreak. And not just a few minutes.”

According to the source: It’s like she has realised life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He’s thrilled that they have reconciled.”
