The Lions appeared to be the same old laughable Lions this season after losing six of their first seven games. Instead of disbanding, Dan Campbell’s team has regrouped and won seven of its last nine games, putting the team in position to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

The offense has been led by the resurgence of quarterback Jarod Goff, a two-headed monster at running back, and a near-no-name receiving group that has ripped up the league.

The Lions finished their home schedule with a 41-10 victory over the Bears last Sunday. Goff scored three touchdowns, two of which went to unheralded tight end Brock Wright.

Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift were dominant at running back, with Williams rushing for 144 yards and a touchdown and Swift adding 78 yards and a score. The receiving group was led by Amon-Ra St. Brown, who had four catches for 62 yards.

Important Injuries:

C Frank Ragnow is listed as questionable, but I expect him to play on Sunday night, while CB Chase Lewis (hamstring) could return from injured reserve.

  • Green Bay Packers

The Packers’ season appeared to be over after losing 40-33 at Philadelphia to fall to 4-8 on the season. There were even calls to bench Aaron Rodgers for the rest of the season so that the team could get a better look at backup Jordan Love.

Rodgers insisted at the time that he would play as long as the Packers remained mathematically eligible for the playoffs. Don’t look now, but the Pack are 8-8 and need a win over the Lions to reclaim their playoff spot.

The Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 41-17 last week to earn this spot. Rodgers threw a touchdown and ran for another as the Packers’ defense shut down the high-powered Minnesota offense. Darnell Savage had a pick-six, and the Packers turned the Vikings over four times.

Key Injuries:

Wide receiver Christian Watson and running back Aaron Jones were both limited this week but should be ready for Sunday night.
