The latest injury reports Pelicans vs. Knicks game

New York will host New Orleans for the first time this season. Both the Knicks and Pelicans will be looking to strengthen their playoff standings with a win.

  • THE PELS

The New Orleans Pelicans enter this game on the heels of a 115-110 loss to the Toronto Raptors. They had trouble scoring, and they’ll need to improve their efficiency on offense if they’re going to challenge the Knicks on the road.

Brandon Ingram scored 14 of his 36 points in fourth place and CJ McCollum finished with 23 as the Pelicans lost for the third time in four games. New Orleans is 10-20 on the road.

Brandon Ingram seems to have lost his form since coming back from an injury that kept him out for a long time. Hopefully, today’s game will give him a chance to show his true level.

Injury Report: Dyson Daniels SG (Ankle), Zion Williamson PF (Hamstring), and EJ Liddell SF (Knee) are out.

According to Jim Eichenhofer of the Pelicans’ official site, Daniels’ status for Saturday’s game against the Knicks is in question due to an ankle injury.

After missing time with an ankle sprain, Daniels was set to make his return to action on Thursday. However, he was a late scratch prior to the game and will likely miss another game this weekend.

Christian Clark of The New Orleans Times-Picayune quotes Pelicans executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin as saying that Williamson has aggravated his right hamstring injury and will be sidelined for several more weeks.

The injury to Williamson, who last played on January 2, will keep him out at least through the end of February and quite likely the first half of March, if not longer. Williamson had recently progressed to 3-on-3 work in practice and was expected to be re-evaluated during the All-Star break.

The New York Knicks come into this contest on the heels of a 122-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. They were outstanding on both ends of the court, and they’ll need to maintain that level of play if they hope to win in front of their home fans.

On Friday in a 115-109 victory over the Wizards, Jalen Brunson played 39 minutes and contributed 13 points (6-20 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four rebounds, nine assists, and one steal.

Brunson was on fire leading up to the All-Star break, scoring in double figures in eight of his last ten games and dishing out six assists per outing.

After a long absence from the court, he returned on Friday and shot just 30% in a victory. The four-year pro hopes to get back on track this coming Saturday when they play the Saints.

Injury Report: Evan Fournier SG (Illness) and Mitchell Robinson C (Thumb) are out.

Fournier hasn’t been in the Knicks’ lineup much lately, and he didn’t play in their first game after the All-Star break. He may or may not be able to play against the Pelicans on Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back set.
