Chloe Sevigny has recently taken on the very challenging role of playing a transsexual hitman for TV show ‘Hit or Miss‘. She has now opened up on why she was so attracted to the role. Firstly, she enjoyed the idea of a challenge and when she began to read the script after her manager encouraged her, she fell in love with it and immediately knew she wanted the part:
“Who doesn’t love a challenge? My manager called me and said, ‘I got some scripts today, and they’re f**king crazy. I’ve never read anything like them, and I kinda think you’re going to be into it,’ A little way into reading the first script, I knew I was in.”
However, upon taking the role, Chloe was worried about doing the unique character justice. She was concerned she might let down real transsexuals and wanted to show it as candidly as possible for those who really were in the position:
“I was worried people would be angry that they didn’t cast a real person who was transitioning, I asked why they didn’t, and the producers said they didn’t find the right person. It’s a big responsibility toward that community, and I wanted to do them right.”
Chloe admits that Hollywood often finds her confusing and even doesn’t like her as an actress, which is why she often ends up in smaller, harder films, but she is happy to take them to further her career:
“Hollywood does not know what to do with me. They do not like me. That’s why I end up in these seemingly difficult movies. That’s what is offered to me, and I need to make a living.”
