Event Content

To build anticipation for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth release, Apex Legends is introducing a limited-time mode in the form of Final Fantasy 7 Takeover. During this event, players will wield the iconic Buster Sword, known for its ability to block bullets, execute dash-and-slash maneuvers, and unleash a powerful Limit Break attack.

Materia Hop-Ups, obtained from loot boxes renamed “Cacticks” for this mode, will grant special powers to Legends:

Materia Hop-up Effect Explanation
Blue Materia HP Absorb Damaging enemies will restore your own health.
Green Materia Lightning Reloading an empty gun will generate a shock nova that inflicts damage and reduces the speed of nearby adversaries.
Purple Materia Crit Rate Up Random criticals will provide additional damage
Red Materia Summon “Summon a Nessie companion to attack your foes”
Yellow Materia Assess Damaging enemies will allow you to see their remaining health

Yes, that’s right – you can summon a fluffy Nessie to aid you in battle!

Cosmetics and Skins

The event also features a slew of new cosmetics, including:

  • Legendary skins for Crypto (Cloud Strife), Wraith (Tifa Lockheart), Horizon (Aerith Gainsborough), Newcastle (Barret Wallace), Valkyrie (Yuffie Kisaragi), and Wattson (Moogle).
  • A separate currency called Gil that you can earn and use to purchase event-exclusive items.
