AI Top 3 Song Suggestions & Spoiler Watch
Posted by Kim on May 9th, 2008
Okay I had these written up yesterday, and yes spoilers have already come in for next weeks Final 3 song choices , but I’m not letting this post go to waste! The funny thing is, ONE of my choices is actually right but for a different contestant. See if you can guess which one it is (and if you do, you really deserve the gold star for the day) and then click the link at the bottom of the post so see the real song spoilers (three in so far).
And Tiff got one right, see if you can guess it!
Little David
Kim: He was by far the hardest one for me to pick for. He really needs to show more versatility, and I tried to pick songs that would challenge him but still fit him, so here goes! Apologize by One Republic; he has enough of an R&B vibe to pull it off and he needs to show that he can do something current. A totally unpredictable choice would be Hide & Seek by Imogen Heap, which he can make his own by adding some of his runs in there (see Ben McKenzie’s version) and maybe doing it a capella, or at least acoustic. And then closing the night with Remember When it Rained by Josh Groban, which is in his comfort zone, yes, but it’s also one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and if he can make it work with just the piano it WILL be his moment.
Tiff: “To Where You Are” - Josh Groban, “How to Save a Life” - The Fray, “Tears and Rain” - James Blunt, “The Sound of Silence” - Simon and Garfunkel
Syesha
Kim: We want to see Syesha be fun and sassy for at least one performance, and I think she could totally own Free Your Mind by En Vogue. Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton would be a good one for her too. And she also needs that one slow and poignant ballad (with dimmed lights, of course) that will seal the deal for her. I’d pick The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack.
Tiff: “Big Girls Don’t Cry” - Fergie, “Almost Lover” - A Fine Frenzy, “Samson” - Regina Spektor, “Gravity” - Vienna Teng
David C
Kim: For something fun and current, Paralyzer by Finger 11, which is a song that I absolutely hate but it’s perfect for his voice. Then I think he should do a slowed down version of Prayer ‘94 by Bon Jovi (yes Tiff, like Lukas), reminiscent of his audition. And also Behind Blue Eyes by The Who (but more along the lines of the Limp Bizkit arrangement, unfortunately), which is a really haunting song that once again, fits his voice to at tee. And I still like my choice of When Doves Cry from last week.
Tiff: “Boston” - Augustana, “Hide & Seek” - Imogen Heap, The World I Know” - Collective Soul, Falling Slowly” - The Frames/Glen Hansard
Note: If the pattern continues, whoever Simon chooses for will win and whoever gets Paula will get cut this week. Click to see spoilers.

Britney Spears is Smiling Again
Posted by chrissie on May 8th, 2008
Yes yes, here we have count them all, pictures of Britney Spears actually looking….dare we say….happy? Yes, she’s had her visitation extended to 3 days weekly, plus an overnight allowed once a month. So she will be spending more time with her precious babies, and she is working hard towards getting 50/50 custody back. And well, she might just get that. Here she is leaving her daily Bally’s regime yesterday, and she clearly looks great, and feels it as well. About time I say.

Katherine McPhee on the Scary Skinny List??
Posted by chrissie on May 8th, 2008

Here is Katherine McPhee and Hilary Duff at Allure Magazine’s ‘Most Alluring Bodies’ photography exhibition last night. The event was held at Skylight Studios in New York City and benefited Skin Cancer Research.
Fans of Hilary will be happy to see her on the cover of Allure this month, and she looked stunning as ever in a gorgeous shimmery strapless thing, while Katherine appeared in a jewel-toned cocktail dress with strappy sandals. Hilary looks healthy and fabulous, so much so you have to hate her for just doing it so naturally.
But uh, what’s going on with Katherine? Pretty dress, yes, and I do like the sleek hair and fresh beauty thing she has going. But, I wonder wonder, did Katherine starve herself for this Alluring Bodies event? It can’t be just me that is seeing much more uh…bone structure than usual.

Amy Winehouse ARRESTED (sigh, yes, again)
Posted by chrissie on May 8th, 2008
Gee, I wonder if she’s on a first name basis with these folks yet. But Amy spent quite the time with East London’s finest yesterday on suspicion of drug possession charges. The charges were stemming from the famous video where she was seen inhaling fumes from a crack pipe.Dang that crack pipe, on video, will getcha every time. See, I think the trick is to NOT use photography when you want to get high, especially if you’re famous.
However, that being said, Amy underwent nine hours of questioning on the charges, and she was arrested in connection with possession of a controlled substance. You gotta wonder what questions they had, so much so that it took NINE hours to get through to her. Or maybe they just needed her to sober up.
In any event, she was released on bail, but there will be more inquiries pending. Mind you, she will probably beat them to the chase, since she seems to be landing up there quite frequently lately. Sheesh, that rehab over there just works wonders, don’t it?

Fergie Takes a Tumble
Posted by chrissie on May 8th, 2008
This is what you get when high shoes happen to drunk people. Here is Fergie making an attempt to leave the Waverly Inn last night, and her five inchers, along with the few drinkies she had inside, caused her to lose her balance. Her bodyguard managed to snag her, but she rolled her ankle and scraped her foot. Looks a little stunned doesn’t she? OUCH. Pretty shoes though!

American Idol: Top 4 Cuts
Posted by Kim on May 8th, 2008We’ve almost come to the end of the season. Tonight, the remaining four contestants will become three, and we’re only a show away (or two counting next week’s results,) from the coveted finale of ‘American Idol’s’ season 7. Who would leave tonight?

Tiff: The top four sang “Reelin’ in the Years.” As usual, a bit cheesy, no?
Kim: Wow, 500 songs to chose from and they picked that one. Nice.

Tiff: Season four alum Bo Bice came back to perform. Did anyone else think Bo looked a little stoned or dead-eyed?
Kim: Maybe he’s been hanging with Jason?

Tiff: And, Maroon 5 performed as well. I still hate that they waste so much of our time with this sort of performance week after week after week. *yawn*
The Person Going Home Is…

Tiff: No surprise, Jason Castro, who seemed very relieved.
Kim: He’s been ready to go for a while. But 4th is ranking to hold, especially for someone who sounds like him, he should be proud.
The curse of the odd year 4th place shocker is officially broken. As much as I would’ve LOVED to see David Cook go home, it’ll be so much more satisfying to see him playing at Epcot later this year, so vote like there’s no tomorrow next week Cooktards! And a big HA HA to all those who were hoping ArchuD2 would get the boot.
And speaking of little David, you know, I’ve GOT to agree with some of you commenter’s…

ArchuD2, he’s like, so DULL!!1! He can only sing ballads and he’s Broadway and he’s NOT marketable, just like Clay Aiken who released a mid tempo song as his first single and went on to sell 2.8 million copies of his first album. He’s only 17 and sings old fashioned music on the show, just like Jordin Sparks who also released a mid tempo ballad as her first single and then went on to break the AI billboard hot 100 record. Twice. He’s so boring, bland and robotic, just like Carrie Underwood was! Whatever happened to her?
Because, you know, this is American Idol, and contestants who go against the grain like Bo Bice and Taylor Hicks are rewarded with platinum plaques, while contestants like Kelly, Clay, Carrie, Jordin and Chris produce derivative, heavily pop influenced music music that sucks up to the mainstream market fade into obscurity. Oh, wait…
AND people like Claymates and Grobanites like, totally don’t exist, and little David totally doesn’t have double the activity on his boards than any other contestants online. So who the HECK would buy his album??
