If you’ve been engaged for a long time, you apparently have enough and more time to plan every detail of your wedding and even pick an elegant wedding gown, in fact two wedding gowns just like Cobie Smulders.
The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ actress exchanged wedding bands with longtime beau (and ‘Saturday Night Live‘ star) Taran Killam earlier this month, and enjoyed wearing not one, but two wedding gowns on her special day.
To start the evening and for her big trip down the aisle, the actress selected a long, lacy, low-backed gown designed by Los Angeles-based couturier Claire Pettibone. The dress, made of beige cotton toile, was trimmed in French gold embroidery and boasted velvet insets and a cascading bustle.
The ultra-romantic wedding gown was the perfect complement to Smulders and her groom, Taran Killam’s, ultra-romantic wedding setting: wine country!
After the 15-minute ceremony, as the festivities set into action at the Alisal Guest Ranch and Resort in Solvang, California, the newlywed star changed into a shorter wedding dress — sleeveless with a high neckline and flouncy skirt. She paired the frock with a mint-green sweater and feminine white flats that featured matching mint-green flowers.
The guest list of 300 people included ‘How I Met Your Mother’ co-stars, Neil Patrick Harris and Alyson Hannigan.
While planning the wedding earlier this year, Smulders said that she was looking forward to the nuptials — but her daughter Shaelyn was even more excited. “She really wants a dress,” the actress shared, “and she wants white shoes.” Hope she got her wish too!
Killam and Smulders first announced their engagement in January 2009; they are parents to a three-year-old daughter, Shaelyn.
