Summary

  • Treylon Burks
  • Zay Jones
  • D.J. Chark
  • Marquise Goodwin

1. Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans – 47% Rostered

Due to Treylon Burks missing the last two games for the Titans, many fantasy managers have decided to drop him. While missing 1-2 games due to a concussion is fairly common, missing a third game would be unusual. This means that we can anticipate his comeback in Week 16.

Burks was on a snap count when he returned from his mid-season IR stint in Week 10, but between Weeks 11 and 13, he averaged 14.87 half-PPR points per game despite only playing 10 of the team’s 53 total snaps. Any fantasy manager could use a player like that on their team.

2. Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars – 55% Rostered

Jones had eight targets over the past weekend. Despite playing a lot, Jones only had two touchdowns from Weeks 1 through 14. He had a good chance of experiencing a touchdown regression, and boy, oh boy, did that narrative come true in Week 15.

He had six receptions for a total of 109 yards and three (!!!) touchdowns. The addition of Jones is a very good one in any PPR league. From Weeks 1 through 14, he caught 5.7 passes per game on average. Even though his Week 16 game against the Jets isn’t the best, he ought to be added in any 12-team league. With Trevor Lawrence playing the way he is, he will have the chance to be effective in any matchup thanks to his target volume.

3. D.J. Chark, Detroit Lions – 51% Rostered

Week 15 was a letdown for D.J. Chark, who only managed one reception and 18 yards on two targets. Fantasy managers shouldn’t worry too much about what happened over the weekend. Any offense and receiver will be put to the test in a road game against the Jets.

Nevertheless, Chark continued to play on a full-time basis, participating in 53 of the team’s 68 snaps. With 32 routes completed, he was second on the team only to Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 34.

In Week 16, the matchup significantly improves. The Carolina Panthers, who have given up the 11th-most fantasy points to receivers this season, will be their opponent. Even though it’s another away game, the Panthers’ defense isn’t nearly as strong as the Jets’. Next week, Chark should be considered a potential WR3. In Week 17, when they will be back at Ford Field, Chark will have two startable weeks left in the fantasy football season.

4. Marquise Goodwin, Seattle Seahawks – 3% Rostered

One of the most sought-after players on the waiver wire is probably Marquise Goodwin. Given that Tyler Lockett is very likely to miss Week 16 and possibly Week 17 as well, Goodwin will take over as the Seahawks’ primary running back.

Of the team’s 64 snaps, Goodwin participated in 38. Dareke Young, who had three, was the next closest receiver. Goodwin finished third on the team with 31 routes run, trailing only D.K. Metcalf (47) and Lockett (45). The only other receiver to run a route was Penny Hart, and he only ran two.

Given that Lockett has received 7.6 targets on average per game from Weeks 1 through 14, Goodwin has plenty of chances to establish himself as a fantasy contender. Because Goodwin isn’t as good as Lockett, fantasy managers shouldn’t anticipate that Goodwin will take on Lockett’s workload; however, because the defense will likely focus exclusively on Metcalf, Goodwin may find himself in single coverage frequently.

Week 16’s Seahawks game against the Chiefs will likely see the Seahawks down by a score, which bodes well for Seattle’s pass-catchers. With 31.9 points per game, the Chiefs have also given up the fourth-most half-PPR points to receivers this season.
