Steven Tyler Was Asked to “Take the P**s Out of” American Idol Contestants?

Now that Steven Tyler no longer has a contract with the big suits that are responsible for ‘American Idol’, he has been openly speaking on his time working on the show, and true to form, he isn’t really holding back any information. He says that there was some good things about the job, like the money and getting to hang out with Jennifer Lopez on a regular basis, but other than that, it wasn’t too much fun and he even hated some parts:

”I loved it and hated it. It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.”

Steven believes that he was expected to be the mean judge on the show after Simon Cowell’s departure, but although he felt pushed to say mean things to the contestants, he simply couldn’t bring himself to do it because it isn’t in his nature. He instead feels those taking part need to be nurtured:

”The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent. They wanted me to take the p**s out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. That’s not what I’m about. That’s more about that other guy. Not me.”

Did he, or did he not just admit that they were trying to get him to say stuff for the cameras? It’s pretty obvious they love making as much drama as possible so that seems like a legit comment!
