Shaughna Phillips, a former Love Island star, says Gemma Owen and Luca’s public split was “terrible”

Former Love Island star Shaughna Phillips says it’s “horrible” that Gemma Owen and Luca Bish are going through their break-up in public.

Gemma Owen has confirmed her split from Luca Bish

Shaughna opened up about the couple, who announced their break-up last night, saying it’s difficult to go through a break-up in public.

Shaughna Phillips, a former Love Island contestant, has called Gemma Owen and Luca Bish’s split “horrible.”

“Obviously every split is horrible – especially one in the public eye.

“I just wish them both the best in the future.”

Previously, Gemma and Luca, who finished second on the ITV2 dating show last summer, announced their split on Instagram.

Gemma Owen: “To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for us both right now.”

“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start our new chapters.” She continued.

Luca Bish, 23, took to Instagram Stories a few hours later to share:

“Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.

“I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.”

He continued: “We have been on such a journey together and have made some amazing memories which I will treasure.

“I can’t thank everyone enough for their support for us as a couple during and after Love Island.

“We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”

Their breakup comes just days after Luca admitted his relationship with the equestrian star, daughter of former footballer Michael Owen, was “getting better and better.”

The couple had also recently returned from a vacation with Gemma’s family, which included her famous father.
