Everything we know so far about Samba de Amigo: Party Central

Sega’s Brazilian monkey has returned after more than a decade of hibernation. Samba de Amigo: Party Central for the Nintendo Switch was announced, and it will be released this summer for $39.99.

Samba de Amigo was created by Sonic Team at Sega and released in arcades before making its way to the Sega Dreamcast. Sega and Gearbox Software’s 2008 Nintendo Wii entry, Samba de Amigo, was the last time fans saw a new Samba de Amigo game.

As confirmed by the game’s trailer, Samba de Amigo: Party Central will include a playlist of over 40 songs from various genres, including Latin and pop music. Sama de Amigo: Party Central features a variety of mini-games and challenges in addition to the main gameplay, which involves motion controls to shake high, middle, or low spots visible on the screen. You and up to seven other friends can have a blast playing Party Central together, either locally or online.

The following are the game’s key features, as outlined by the publisher:

  • Groove with your friends and family with different party modes!
  • Feeling confident in your skills? Complete the StreamiGo! challenges to help Amigo rise to fame.
  • Strut that style by customizing your character with unique costumes and accessories.
  • Take the party to a global level: hit the floor with 12 Amigos and up to 8 of your friends online in World Party Mode.
  • Show the world what you’ve got by competing on the online leaderboards.

That’s all we know so far about the upcoming Samba de Amigo game.
