Matt Damon has been talking out of his tightly-squeezed bunghole again. The actor has rushed to defend his close friend Ben Affleck who has just been cast as Batman in the upcoming sequel to Superman movie ‘Man of Steel’. Matt insists that Ben will do a fine job because it isn’t a particularly challenging role, however most of the internet are pretty upset about the unusual casting choice.

Matt thinks the Batman part is no biggie because he believes that Ben’s other recent roles were more challenging, and he says Ben isn’t taking on the role of ‘King Lear’ which kinda sounds like he doesn’t think Ben has the acting chops to pull off anything too complicated. Matt said:

“I think it will be great. It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it’s kind of funny. You know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman! Certainly within his skill set.”

Matt continues by stating that Ben’s other work is strong so he should be able to do this:

“If anybody saw Argo or The Town and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman! Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people. Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that… But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”
