After getting into it with Green in the decisive game, Schroder was assessed two technical fouls. After some back-and-forth in the third quarter, Green appeared to shove the ball into Schroder’s face.

Without Schroder, the Lakers were able to fend off the Warriors and cruise to a 122-101 victory. After the game, he posted a celebratory Instagram in which he included photographs of Green throwing the ball at his face.

“WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS!!!” Schroder posted as the caption. “One of the biggest competitors there is [Draymond Green]. A lot of respect for you. HOF.”

Clowning Draymond Green in Game 4, Dennis Schroder Went Viral.

Schroder’s words were nice enough, but they could have hidden a hint of disapproval. After a heated series, Schroder went viral for mocking Green’s poor decision making in a crucial moment of Game 4.

During an appearance on the “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin shed light on what started the feud between Schroder and Green.

“Schroder is trying to run a pick-and-roll with AD, has a weird angle, tries to throw it behind the back to AD, and it goes out of bounds,” McMenamin said.

“Right where it went out of bounds is where Rich Paul sits on the baseline, and Draymond Green was defending the action. And Draymond Green screams demonstratively to Rich Paul, ‘Get this fool off the court,’ talking about Dennis Schroder for making that play.

He continued: “Revenge was swift, and he got him with that cunning look. You wanna call me a fool, well who just turned it over in the biggest moment of the game?’”

Schroder was effective in both his role as a pest and his primary defensive assignment, containing Warriors superstar Stephen Curry. Lakers head coach Darvin Ham was so impressed with his performance that he put him in the starting lineup for Game 6.
