Kate Bosworth Surprised by Shoe Collection Success

Actress and style icon Kate Bosworth recently launched a shoe collaboration collection with Matisse footwear that went on sale at Nordstroms and sold out in just a few hours at the Los Angeles store after the launch. The 10 piece collection included star-embellished cowboy ankle boots, sandals and more, and Kate admits she was completely surprised by how successful the collection was. She said:

”You hope people respond to it. But I didn’t have any expectations of it being that quick.”

Kate thinks that the catwalk-inspired shoes make it easier to give trends a go because the rest of an outfit can be quite classic. She explained that one of her pieces is a simple way of trying out the 70s look without having to wear a full ensemble taken from the era:

”Sometimes I think people get a little nervous about wearing a full trend. But if you want to accessorise with a trend, I think it’s a little more palatable. If you were to wear the Kelly in the fawn suede, it gives a little bit of a Seventies flair for summer.”

The actress added that she wanted to design pieces that can be worn for almost any occasion and season. She loves when pieces are “transitional” and aimed to create items that could be dressed up or down and worked into any wardrobe:

“I have always been attracted to fashion that is transitional wear, meaning, designs that carry a woman from season to season, from day to night. That was a significant part of the thought process for this collection. I wanted to think about footwear that is directional and also comfortable. I like my shoes to have a bit of personality.”
