UPDATE: Allen (hamstring) participated in individual drills on Wednesday in preparation for the Chargers’ Week 6 game against the Broncos on Monday night.

The veteran wide receiver has been out for the past four games due to a hamstring injury suffered in Week 1. Allen appeared to be ready to play last week until he aggravated his injury in practice.

If Allen can get through a couple of practices before the end of the week, he should be able to play on Monday night.

Keenan Allen has been out with a hamstring injury for the Los Angeles Chargers since the first half of their Week 1 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders.

This has had a significant impact on the offense, as Justin Herbert has lost his most reliable third-down outlet.

Allen appeared to be on track to return in Week 4 against the Houston Texans, as he returned to practice ahead of the game.

However, due to a hamstring injury, he had to leave his first practice early with a trainer and was quickly ruled out of the competition.

Allen’s practice situation has not improved significantly since this incident.

Allen did not return to practice until the week before Week 5 after missing Week 4. That trend continued later in the week, as Allen was inactive in Thursday’s practice once more.

After missing Week 4, Allen did not return to practice until the week before Week 5.

That trend continued later in the week, with Allen remaining inactive in Thursday’s practice.

Of course, nothing has been ruled official (at the time of writing), and the veteran wide receiver could make a surprise return.

But the Chargers don’t want to rush Allen back from his hamstring injury and aggravate it.

They’ll need him when things heat up in the final stretch, so being cautious with him is ideal.
