  • Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets (7-18; 11-12-2 ATS) suffered a 118-109 defeat at the hands of the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.

Three days after shocking the Philadelphia 76ers at home with a 132-123 double-overtime victory, the Rockets failed to live up to the hype, falling as 2-point road favorites at AT&T Center in San Antonio.

The Spurs made 55.4% of their field goals, while the Rockets made 44.9%. Houston gave up 39 points in the third quarter and blew a three-point lead at the half. Jabari Smith Jr. finished with 23 points and a minus-20 net rating, while Alperen Sengun had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Jae’Sean Tate (ankle) was cleared to return to the court on Monday, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.

  • Milwaukee Bucks

The Milwaukee Bucks (19-6; 14-9-2 ATS) defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-105 on the road last Friday. It was their fourth straight victory and seventh in their last eight games.

The Bucks overcame a 12-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Dallas 33-21 in the fourth. Giannis Antetokounmpo fouled out in the final seconds, and Brook Lopez scored the game-winning basket with 7.1 seconds remaining.

Lopez had four points, six rebounds, and three blocks in the game. Khris Middleton added 19 points and five assists to Antetokounmpo’s 28 points, ten rebounds, and seven turnovers.

The Bucks shot 43.7% from the field (11-for-32 from deep) and had an assist-to-turnover ratio of 27/17.

Wesley Matthews (COVID-19) will not play against the Rockets on Sunday. Matthews will miss his second consecutive game due to health and safety protocols.

However, he had not played in the previous three games due to the return of Khris Middleton, so even if the veteran forward is cleared to play against the Warriors on Tuesday, there is no guarantee he will.
