Location of the Sluice Gate Puzzle
This puzzle is tucked away deep in the sewers at coordinates X:-205, Y:867. When you arrive, you’ll see a large steam engine – that’s the sluice gate itself. Nearby valves and gauges are part of the puzzle, along with a note etched on the wall explaining how to operate the valves.
How to Solve It
The goal is to balance the temperature and water flow to unlock the gate. Interact with each valve and gauge in this order:
- Select a character and turn the water valve on the left. The meter will start filling.
- After about 5 seconds, turn the heat gauge to start raising the temperature.
- Wait for both gauges to hit their “Perfect” sweet spots.
- The gate will automatically unlock once both valves are optimized.
It’s a timed challenge – the key is turning the water valve first to build pressure, then bringing up the heat. Be cautious, as messing up could cause an explosion! Use the reset valve on the right if needed. With some trial and error, you’ll tame this sewer puzzle in no time.
Recruiting Minsc
Once you’re through, you can catch up to Minsc himself. When fighting him, concentrate attacks only on Jaheira. With her down, wear down Minsc’s health then use a non-lethal blow. Minsc will be dazed but recruitable. Explain it was just Jaheira’s double he saw die. Soon Minsc will be off chasing his hamster Boo – and join you on your adventure!
