Chase is unlikely to return to the field anytime soon.

Chase is expected to be placed on injured reserve, according to The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr., which means he will miss at least four games.

This would include games against the Browns, Panthers, Steelers, and Titans, with a week off between the Carolina and Pittsburgh games. He’d be eligible to return in Week 13 against the Chiefs at home.

Chase has 605 yards on 47 catches and six touchdowns in his second season. Last season, he was named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year after catching 81 passes for 1,455 yards and 13 touchdowns.

He was restricted in practice due to a hip flexor strain, as per Dehner, and had to leave the game against the Falcons during halftime.

He stated that Chase did not dislocate his hip and that he does not require surgery. He appeared to come up limping near the end of the first half while running a route on a non-contact play.

UPDATE 3: Samuel (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 8.

UPDATE 2: Samuel (hamstring) was not seen during Friday’s practice, limiting his chances of playing against the Rams this Sunday.

UPDATE: According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Samuel (hamstring) was not seen during Thursday’s practice session.

Samuel (hamstring) did not participate in practice on Wednesday. Kyle Shanahan described Samuel as “day-to-day” on Monday, according to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner.

We’ll see if Samuel returns to the field for San Francisco’s Thursday and Friday practices, but there’s a good chance he’ll be labeled “questionable” ahead of a big game against the Rams.

While Samuel has only had one “big” fantasy performance this season, against the Rams in Week 4, he has a respectable 26.7-percent target share and remains one of the game’s most lethal after-the-catch receivers.

If Samuel is unable to play this week, expect Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle to take on a larger role in the passing game, with a greater emphasis on their running game, led by All-Pro RB Christian McCaffery.

  • Andre Swift

UPDATE: According to the team’s injury report, Swift was a full participant in Thursday’s practice.

Swift (shoulder) practiced fully on Wednesday ahead of the Lions’ Week 8 game against the Dolphins. He has missed the last three games for Detroit.

He was limited in practice last week before ultimately failing to suit up. Swift should be a safe bet to start this week against the Dolphins if he doesn’t suffer any setbacks.

The Dolphins’ defense allows the 14th most fantasy points per game to running backs, making this a favorable matchup for Swift and Jamaal Williams.

Because Swift is coming off a multi-week injury, Williams could still get the majority of the carries, giving him flex value, while Swift is a solid RB2 in PPR leagues.
