Destiny 2 Into the Light Release Date

Destiny 2: Into the Light launches globally on April 9th. Expect the update to arrive after the usual weekly reset, which typically occurs around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM GMT. While Bungie hasn’t confirmed the exact downtime, keep an eye out for potential extended maintenance.

New Armor

Into the Light bolsters your fashion sense with a brand-new armor set for each Guardian class. Earn Trophies of Bravery, a new rank system for Shaxx, to unlock these stylish sets. Trophies can be acquired through various core activities, including rituals and seasonal offerings.

Speaking of Exotics, two legendary missions make a triumphant return! Whisper Mission (Whisper of the Worm) and Zero Hour Mission (Outbreak Perfected) become available on launch and May 7th, respectively. This means both the coveted Exotic weapons will be craftable through mission replay. As always, expect these weapons to boast intrinsic perks unlocked through rotating challenges every three weeks.

New PvE Modes

Into the Light injects two thrilling PvE experiences into the mix. Onslaught, launching alongside the update, throws you into a classic Horde Mode scenario. Defend against relentless waves of enemies across familiar locations from Destiny’s history.

For seasoned Guardians seeking an ultimate test, Pantheon arrives on April 30th. This boss rush gauntlet pits you against a legendary lineup of raid bosses, both past and present. Gear up, assemble your Fireteam, and prepare for an escalating challenge with escalating rewards!

New Crucible Maps

For PvP enthusiasts, Into the Light expands the Crucible map pool with three brand new destinations. Sharpen your skills and strategies in:

  • Cirrus Plaza (Neomuna)
  • Eventide Labs (Europa)
  • Essence (Pyramid Ship)

These maps will be available for dedicated competitive playlists upon launch, ensuring a focused environment to hone your combat edge. General availability for these maps kicks off on May 7th.

Hall of Champions: A New Guardian Hub

The Hall of Champions is your new social destination, where you’ll encounter familiar faces like Arcite 99-40 and Lord Shaxx as vendors. By gaining reputation with them, you can earn Superblack Key Omega and Alpha, granting access to the coveted Superblack shader locked within the symbiote containment area. Numerous other chests await your keys, offering weapons and other treasures.

BRAVE Arsenal

The biggest highlight of Into the Light is the return of 12 fan-favorite weapons from Destiny history! Shaxx, in his wisdom, is allowing Guardians to wield these previously banned armaments to combat the growing threat of the Witness.

Here’s the list of returning weapons:

  • The Mountaintop (Primary Grenade Launcher)
  • The Recluse (Sub Machine Gun)
  • Edge Transit (Grenade Launcher)
  • Falling Guillotine (Sword)
  • Hammerhead (Machine Gun)
  • Blast Furnace (Pulse Rifle)
  • Hung Jury SR4 (Scout Rifle)
  • Succession (Sniper Rifle)
  • Midnight Coup (Hand Cannon)
  • Forbearance (Special Grenade Launcher)
  • Luna’s Howl (Hand Cannon)
  • Elsie’s Rifle (Pulse Rifle) – Previously known as The Stranger’s Rifle

These iconic weapons can be acquired through quests offered by Arcite in the Hall of Champions. They’ll be released progressively between launch day and April 30th.
