A Guide to Self Tanning Your Back

Posted by admin on October 6th, 2020

Self-tanning is a great way to get that golden glow without the risks associated with the sun or sunbeds. But, when you decide to self-tan you’re going to need to think about your back. It’s important to have a plan before you start. Experts recommend you start at your ankles and work your way up, if you haven’t got a plan you’re going to have problems when you get to your back.

It’s the hardest part of your body to reach and it’s difficult to make sure you’ve covered it properly. If you mess this up you may have to keep your back covered for a while or let everyone see your streaky finish!

Fortunately, this guide will help you to self-tan your back properly and confidently!

Get A Friend

The easiest and potentially most practical approach is to get a friend to administer the fake tan to your back for you. It will have to be a friend you can trust as you’ll want them to apply the fake tan evenly.

Prep First

Before you start self-tanning you should make sure you have completed all your other cleaning regimes. Doing these after you’ve tanned can affect the results. It’s best to be prepared and do them first.

As part of this, you should exfoliate your skin to remove dry skin. Any patches of dry skin will attract the tanning lotion and create darker spots. Exfoliating can even out the finish.

Moisturize

Dry your skin thoroughly after preparing and then wait at least 10 minutes to ensure you are completely dry. This is essential if you want the best possible finish.

You can then put just a little moisturizer on your skin, particularly around the areas that suffer from dry skin.

Use The Best Product

It’s essential to choose a product that is natural and easy to apply. You’ll find the Bondi Sands range an excellent choice. Mousses and foams are the easiest products to administer. If you’re a beginner you should ensure it has a little color guide in it, this will help to ensure you’ve covered your entire body properly, including your back.

The Back

You’ve done all the prep work and chosen the right product, which means you can apply your tanning lotion. You should work from your ankles up.

When you get to your back a little tanning foam in your hands can be easily applied to the lower back in a circular motion.

You can also do your shoulders in the same way, right hand to the left shoulder, and vice versa. The issue is the center of your back.

The easiest way to do this is to get a long-handled loofah and put the tanning lotion onto this, then gently rub it in a circular motion around your back.

You should be near a mirror to allow you to look at your back as you’re putting the lotion on. Again, if it has a color guide in the lotion you’ll find it much easier to confirm you’ve covered your back completely.

It may also help to have a mist formula that you can spray on your back to help avoid any paler parts.
