Story of the Day: LeAnn Rimes Checks Into Rehab for “Anxiety and Stress”

Country singer LeAnn Rimes has voluntarily checked into a rehab program (a 30-day in-patient facility) a day after her 30th birthday to deal with anxiety and stress. The singer has been through a very public cheating scandal in recent years and it appears she is hoping to take some time off to get her emotions in check – she is often targeted by haters following the scandal, while she has also been rumored to be suffering from an eating disorder. The singer wrote to explain her reasons for checking into the facility:

”This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be. All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”

LeAnn’s rep added by stating that the singer is hoping to cope with anxiety and stress during her stint and she asks for privacy during this time. She is also still expected to see to touring obligations at weekends:

”LeAnn has voluntarily entered a 30 day in-patient treatment facility to cope with anxiety and stress. While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated. The facility has granted her permission to keep her weekend tour obligations as LeAnn doesn’t want to disappoint her fans. She will report back after each weekend.”
