6 Celebrities Criticized For Being Too Sexy

Some stars become famous solely for their sex appeal, but others are criticized for having too much sex appeal. Whether these stars are expected to maintain a squeaky clean image for their fans or they’re been accused of limiting themselves to playing sexual roles, these celebrities have all been accused of being too sexy!

Dakota Fanning

An ad campaign for Marc Jacob’s Oh, Lola! fragrance starring Dakota Fanning was banned in the UK in 2011 for being “sexually provocative.” Fanning was just 17 years old when she was photographed for the advertisement, which the Advertising Standards Authority thought made the ad even more inappropriate.

Kate Upton

Kate Upton’s body has been a hot topic since the model first burst onto the scene, with some claiming she is too sexy for her own good. Most recently, the 20-year-old was criticized for a Mercedes ad that will air during the Super Bowl. The Parents Television Council stated that the commercial is selling “sexual objectification” rather than cars and argues that the message isn’t empowering for women and doesn’t encourage girls to have values or respect for themselves.

Rihanna

Rihanna was chosen to be the face of Nivea in 2011, but her partnership with the brand didn’t last long. When a new CEO took over the company in 2012, he quickly cut ties with the singer for being too sexy. He stated the company “stands for trust, family and reliability,” which doesn’t align with was Rihanna stands for.

Lea Michele

Lea Michele and the entire cast of Glee has been criticized for starring in photo shoots that portray them as far too sexy for their young fans. The Parents Television Council struck again when they called a 2010 spread in GQ featuring Michele and her costars pedophilia. They believed the images were too racy and therefore set a bad example for the show’s viewers.

Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett Johansson has been called curvy and voluptuous, which isn’t necessarily a good thing in Hollywood. In a town where skinniness is valued over almost everything else, these terms are often used negatively. The actress has reportedly lost roles because her figure is too sexy. She won’t let it get her down though – she thinks people are way too obsessed with weight and she’d rather take care of herself and be happy with how she looks than try to conform to what others want.

Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus has been criticized for drastically altering her Disney good girl image as she grows up. The actress and singer made her first sexy statement a few years ago in her “Can’t Be Tamed” music video. Cyrus made it clear that she planned to do what she wanted to do, but not everyone was happy about it. Of course the Parents Television Council was the first to call her out for being provocative and inappropriate, but judging by her ever-evolving look, Cyrus isn’t letting the criticism get to her.
