Wanting to use their time in the spotlight to do some good, these 5 stars say they hope they can positively inspire kids and be good role models to those who may look up to them. Believing that because they’re famous, they have a platform to show younger people how to lead healthy, happy and successful lives, these stars want to just do what’s right for their fans and try not to make public mistakes so that kids will know the right way to behave as they grow.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota does her best to influence those who look up to her for the better: “I think that when you’re in the public eye, you automatically become a role model, because people are reading about you and looking at pictures of stuff you’ve done. But, you know, no one’s perfect, everyone makes mistakes. I have made mistakes and I will make mistakes. I’m only human.”

Demi Lovato

Demi believes younger girls need someone to look up to: “When I was younger, I needed someone in the spotlight to idolise, who stood for positivity and light and happiness, and wanted to change the world. And because I didn’t have that, I realised I want to do that, if only for my 12-year-old little sister… I’m very proud of how far I’ve come, but I definitely want to win a Grammy one day, and I dream of winning an Oscar. I want to tour and build my fan base and make music that will last for decades.”

Jessie J

Jessie would like to be the person younger people can take some positivity from: “You can be who you want to be without taking the path of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. I base my confidence on purity. It’s important for me to embrace being a role model, and that young people have someone to look up to who does that.”

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick wants to inspire the children who grew up just like him: “It means everything to me. Because I know there’s a lot of kids in my neighbourhood that are watching TV and saying ‘You know what, I want to be a positive influence just like Kendrick Lamar, or whoever is out there doing something for the good.'”

Zendaya aims to show young people they can achieve anything if they work hard: “I want to be a positive role model for them and I want them to see someone their age working hard and showing that age doesn’t really define what you can do and what dreams you can, you know, go for and I don’t want them to think that there’s an age limit on that.”
