Ashley is disappointed when she sees herself photoshopped because she knows it’s not realistic: “I saw photos from a shoot of myself just the other day and thought, What the hell? That doesn’t even look like me! I was so disappointed. I hate to think that girls are like, ‘She’s so skinny! Her skin is so perfect!’ I have pimples just like they do.”

Demi tries to stop photographers from retouching her images: “There were times where I was looking at the pictures with the photographer and he would say, ‘Oh, we could fix that’, and I was like, ‘No, we can’t. We cannot use Photoshop in this shoot’. Of course it’s awkward, but when I start to think about the message, when I would start to think about how many people this would inspire, I got more comfortable doing it.”

Kate refuses to let her images be photoshopped and hopes it makes a positive change: “I can only ever speak for myself and I can only ever do things that are important to me and it’s a hope that other people might follow suit but it does feel important to me because I do think we have a responsibility to the younger generation of women.”

Zendaya

Zendaya has spoken out against photoshopping: “Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated. These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have. Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love.”
