Hoping to keep track of their personal thoughts, experiences or journey through stardom, these 5 celebrities all keep a diary or journal. Some find it therapeutic to put pen to paper and unload some of their emotions, while others do it in order to look back at their past and see how far they’ve come and how their lives have changed.
Carey keeps a journal on her stardom to remind herself of her journey: “When you dream of being an actor when you’re six, you dream of lightbulbs around your mirror. It’s the fairytale version of what it is to be an actor, so it’s mad that it’s come true. It’s been a crazy ride. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing, so I’m writing stuff down and trying to remember it. As surreal as it is, and as much of an honour as it is to work with people you admire, I’m just going to enjoy it.”
A source close to Gaga reveals she documents her life as a popstar: ”As she tours the world, Gaga notes everything down in her journal. It contains her thoughts, feelings, sketches, pictures and even letters between herself and mum Cynthia. She keeps it all together as a memento, so that if she ever has children they’ll be able to read all about their pop star mum. Gaga also says that one day she would consider allowing it to be published, if the timing was right.”
Gwyneth keeps a log of paparazzi encounters: “If I have my daughter in the car and they are making me nervous, I’ll do whatever I have to do. I keep a whole log. I take pictures of their cars, write down license plate numbers, everything. If they do it again, I can go to the police. I know my rights, and believe me, I will have them arrested. I will stop at nothing.”
An insider close to Jennifer reveals that she has always kept a diary: ”Jen has been keeping journals since she was 13 years old. She considers them to be her therapy sessions. Jen had never mentioned her journals before, but she says there are six of them now. They’re all simple leather diaries, locked away in a safe in her home. Every boyfriend, every relationship, her friendships, her work, her family – all of them are dissected on those pages. Jen is not the type to get into huge, verbal altercations with her boyfriends; her way of dealing with relationship issues has always been to write in her diary, then have a discussion. That way she always has the upper hand in fights, and never loses control.”
Jessica writes a diary to unload her emotions: “It (writing in a diary) is very, very therapeutic. There is a lot about heartbreak, there is a lot about perseverance. I used it as inspiration for my album. I used certain journal excerpts from certain journal entries. It has been an awesome experience for me.”
