5 Celebrities Who Struggle to Cope With Fame

These 5 celebs have all struggled to cope in the spotlight. Some found themselves rising to fame so fast that it took them a while to understand what was happening, while others find it difficult to deal with the media who constantly hound them. One of these stars says she feels “picked on” and often struggles with her fame because of it, while another star shot to fame and had to spend some time figuring out what had happened before choosing to seize the moment and embracing her new found stardom.

Sinead O’Connor

Sinead explains that she had to take a step back from the spotlight because of how fame made her feel: “Fame and beauty together have proved a curse for me. Fame, especially. It’s the reason I keep leaving the game. I find it painful, I really do. To be a good artist you need to be terribly sensitive. If you are sensitive then you’re not well-suited to the vileness of the music industry.”

Sienna Miller

Sienna finds all the scrutiny involving her personal life difficult to deal with: “I’m not coping very well with all the attention, if I’m honest. I suppose it’s part of the package but I really haven’t learned to cope. I think you just have to become very thick-skinned and cynical and keep your family and friends close by. It’s tough.”

Rupert Friend

British actor Rupert hit the spotlight during his relationship with Keira Knightley but says he avoids it now because he can’t cope:  “I don’t know anything about coping in the spotlight. I cope badly, that’s why I never go in it. But I wouldn’t advise people to stay away. Some love it – you have to find what you love.”

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer feels picked on which she says can be hard for her: “It’s hard sometimes, I’m not going to lie. I try to stay away from the media as much as I can. Sometimes. I try not to take it too personally, because I don’t think they do it just to me. But as a human being it feels like that. You feel like you’re the only one being picked on. But the truth is, they pick on everybody. They really don’t discriminate. I try to concentrate on all the great things I have going on in my life.”

Freida Pinto

Freida was so shocked with her quick rise to fame that it took her a while to adjust and use it to launch her career further: “If I needed to talk to someone about what happened, he was the only one who knew what was going on. It was nice to have those moments and that experience together. It took a while to accept what had happened. As much as I was happy with what was going on, it was almost too much to take in for somebody who’d never experienced any of that before. Surrounding myself with good people such as family and close friends helped me keep my head on my shoulders. That said, the one thing I knew was I had to seize the moment and strike while the iron was hot.”
