5 Celebrities on Their Worst Beauty Mistakes

Everyone has made a beauty mistake at some point, and learning how to do your own hair and makeup takes experimentation –  and sometimes it just doesn’t end up looking right. These 5 celebrities have all spoken on the beauty errors they made along the way, saying they cringe when they think about the strange makeup or horrible hair they used to wear. Clearly finding what works for them now, these celebrities are happy to laugh off the silly mistakes they have made in the past.

  1. Alexa Chung

Alexa used to wear strange makeup as a teen: “I used to wear this coffee, maroon-y lipstick with silver eyeshadow and over-plucked eyebrows. I used to have a pony, and I’d go to muck out her stall and my friend’s dad would be like, “You…look…good?” [Makes disgusted face.] I was 13, with just way too much makeup on.”

  1. Cheryl Cole

Cheryl would copy music videos for her hair and makeup and it didn’t turn out well: “Oh God, when I was a teenager I used to watch music videos and then try to recreate the hair and make-up but it was always very disastrous. I was never very good at applying my own make-up, I’d have eyeliner smeared all over the place. But you know what’s funny? I always loved big bouffant hair, even then, but because I didn’t know how to get it properly, I’d tie it up in a bobble, push it back so it created a quiff, then I’d put crocodile clips underneath it. Hair by Cheryl. I loved it.”

  1. Ellie Goulding

Elle says her worst hair mistake was: ”When I had half of my head shaved. It was my most extreme tomboy phase.”

  1. Georgia May Jagger

Georgia used to wear too much makeup: ”Wearing too much foundation when I was younger. When I look back on photos,  it’s terrifying! And I was going the whole hog with black eyes and red lips – I’ve since learnt to be more subtle.”

  1. Jenny McCarthy

Jenny wishes she didn’t expose herself to the sun so often just to get a tan: “I wish I knew when I was younger not to lay out in the sun. Aging, skin cancer. I wish I would have Nicole Kidman-ed it throughout my whole life. I also wish I would have known to drink more water.”
