5 Celebrities on How Motherhood Changed Them

Becoming a mother is obviously a pivotal moment is any woman’s life: your priorities change and there is a new baby that becomes number 1 on the scale of importance – everything else is pushed to the side and that newborn is everything. These 5 celeb moms have all noticed how different their lives are now as mothers and have revealed what they have observed. From just being more concerned about safety now that they have someone to look after and protect, to feeling less selfish because they have another person to worry about, these star moms have all noticed positive ways in which their lives have become different or how their attitude has changed since welcoming a child.

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba embraces her sexuality more as a mother: ”Having babies helped me embrace my sexuality. Up until then, I was quite shy about it. But once I experienced how incredible and amazing it was to create a life, it was empowering. Now, I feel freer to express myself and just be me. Through motherhood I really came into my own and, for me, feeling sexy is all about this type of comfort, confidence, and true happiness.”

Jessica Simpson

Jessica thinks more about safety now: ”There are little things that you kind of obsess over. I never knew how protective I was until I had my own child. I’m already thinking about intruders coming into the house and what our escape route would be.”

Sofia Coppola

The director thinks her outlook on life has changed since becoming a mother and even used that as inspiration in ‘Somewhere’. She commented:  “I think motherhood changes your perspective and your priorities and it makes you think about your own parents. And I was looking at my boyfriend being the father of a daughter. And I was curious how complicated that relationship would be for a guy who was with a lot of women to have a daughter who is now on the verge of becoming a woman. Kids are aware of what’s going on when people think they’re not paying attention. I tried to put that into the character.”

Sandra Bullock

Sandra believes becoming a mother has made her less selfish and completely changed her routine: ”I can’t selfishly take journeys anymore because I have to take a little boy along with me.”

Penelope Cruz

Penelope says the change is very obvious but hard to define: “Being a mother changes you immediately. It’s hard to explain because it’s so deep. But it’s the most beautiful feeling I have ever had.”
