5 Celeb Couples Who’ve Tried Relationship Counseling

No long term relationship is all smooth sailing, and these 5 couples have all tried out counseling sessions in a bid to make their relationship work or keep it on good terms. For some, it sadly didn’t pay off and they later ended their relationship after they tried their best to make it work. Other couples say that they are stronger because they talk out their issues and show their sensitive side during the sessions. Hoping to work out their issues with each other with a mediator present who can help them reach a place they can both agree on, these 5 couples have all given relationship counseling a shot in order to improve their lives or work through something that is bothering them in their relationship.

Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony

Before their divorce, Jennifer wanted them to try and work out their issues: “She (Lopez) tried everything she could to make it work. They went to marriage counselling. She was patient and loving and did everything he wanted her to… She exhausted all the possibilities.”

Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Discick

Kourtney and boyfriend Scott work out their issues at therapy together: “It’s ridiculous. All the rumours you just have to laugh at. We’ve been working on our relationship and we’re doing the best we can. We’re in a really good place right now and taking it day by day and it’s good. I think counselling is really important and we always love going and feel so much better after. I think everyone should go. People are like, ‘It’s so expensive and this or that,’ but it’s more important than buying clothes or a handbag or shoes. It’s your life.”

Liberty Ross & Rupert Sanders

After her director husband Rupert was caught cheating on her with Kristen Stewart, Liberty wanted to try couples counseling sessions to save their marriage: ”For the sake of her own happiness, she had to finally go through with the divorce. No matter how hard she tried, she just couldn’t forgive Rupert for cheating on her with Kristen – especially since it was something that caused such public embarrassment. The images of Rupert and Kristen together making out were out there for everyone to see. Liberty just couldn’t get those pictures out of her head. She truly tried everything, even counselling, because she was desperate to make it work for the sake of Skyla and Tennyson. But after months and months of painful soul searching she decided it was in the best interests to end her misery and make a fresh start.”

Melanie Brown & Stephen Belafonte

The Spice Girls singer works on problems with her husband all of the time: “Stephen and I have been seeing a family therapist – normally once a week. It’s nice to show your vulnerability sometimes.I work through my frustrations by talking. I talk a lot. I’ve always been very open – maybe that’s why I got the name Scary Spice. We’re very tight. You might think we’re volatile but we’re not. We don’t row (argue) – we have ‘conversations’. We agree to disagree.”

Patrick Dempsey & Jill Fink

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ star Patrick Dempsey says that seeking help keep them in check: “We go in for checkups and go ‘Hey, here’s what we need to work on.’ We’ve had a very good relationship from the beginning, but you run into things you have to work through. Being a father makes you look at yourself. You look at your marriage and go ‘How do I improve this? How do I keep growing and create a stable environment for my children?'”
