Donald Trump is no stranger to controversy and there are plenty of people against his run for presidency, including many celebrities who’ve publicly slammed some of his statements and policies. Sharing their own opinions of Trump, these stars have all come out to try and stop people supporting him, explaining why they think he’s bad news for the USA.
Simply put, Andrew says the possibility of Trump becoming president is scary news: “Scares the sh-t out of me, too. Yeah, I don’t have an answer. Of course I don’t. But I know I’m upset, I know I’m deeply offended by our culture as it stands.”
George believes Trump is spreading xenophobia: “He’s just an opportunist. Now he’s a fascist; a xenophobic fascist… Let’s put things into perspective. You know, the truth of the matter is, in election season, things go crazy, and the loudest voices are the furthest and most extreme. So you hear a massively stupid idea, like we’re going to ban Muslims from the country. Now, we’re not ever going to do that. It says in the Statue of Liberty, bring us your huddled masses. It’s not what’s going to happen.”
Louis urges people not to vote for him: “Please stop it with voting for Trump. It was funny for a little while. But the guy is Hitler. And by that I mean that we are being Germany in the 30s. Do you think they saw the sh-t coming? Hitler was just some hilarious and refreshing dude with a weird comb over who would say anything at all.”
Miguel thinks Trump is just spreading hate and ignorance: “It’s really sad that even at that level there is this ignorance that exists. I think issues of racial, economic, social, sexual discrimination, these discriminations are a worldwide thing, a human thing. It doesn’t only exist in the States, it doesn’t only exist here in the UK, it’s everywhere. Everywhere there are people that believe that other groups you know, based on however you wanna categorise them are lesser people in some way shape or form.”
Saoirse called Trump an idiot for his statements about immigrants: “What an idiot. I think he needs more than Brooklyn to sharpen up his mind a bit. Thank God not everyone thinks like that man. To have a film coming out around this time where there are so many immigrants that are just being so kind of thrown into the one group and being tarred with the one brush, it’s unfair and it’s prejudice.”
