Kansas City’s field goal in the final three seconds helped them beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20, while Philadelphia had no trouble against the injury-plagued San Francisco 49ers.

Mahomes and Hurts are two of the NFL’s most interesting quarterbacks. And, if both Mahomes and Hurts play, they will make history as the first two Black quarterbacks to meet in a Super Bowl.

  • Will Hurts be a part of the Super Bowl team?

Jalen Hurts’ status for the next two weeks is in doubt due to a shoulder injury that caused him to miss two games near the end of the season. Yet, the 24-year-old is a finalist for both the AP NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards, alongside Mahomes.

Hurts is being watched closely as he attempts to join Doug Williams, Patrick Mahomes, and Russell Wilson as the only Black quarterbacks to win the Super Bowl.

  • Can we expect to see Mahomes in the Super Bowl?

Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, played through an ankle injury he sustained in the previous week’s victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars to lead his team to the NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field.

The extra two weeks of rest will do the quarterback a world of good, but we won’t know how close to 100% Mahomes will be until at least next week’s game in Arizona. Travis Kelce, his favorite receiver, suffered a back injury in practice before Sunday’s game against the Bengals and was forced to sit out.
