After a great 30-point, 20-rebound performance in Game 1, Davis attempted only 11 shots in Game 2, his second-lowest total of the series. He also had a game-high four turnovers and, like the rest of Los Angeles’ starters, did not play in the fourth quarter as Golden State extended its lead to 30 points after three quarters.
With Kevon Looney (sickness) not 100 percent on Thursday, the Warriors started Draymond Green at center, so Green’s defensive brilliance undoubtedly had a role in Davis’ bad offensive night.
It’ll be intriguing to see how Golden State matches up in Game 3, as Green’s switch to Davis appeared to have a knock-on effect, allowing LeBron James to go hot in the first half. In any case, the Lakers will almost certainly need Davis and James to be at their best to avoid losing home-court advantage over the next two games.
