Will David Montgomery playing Week 5?

Montgomery participated in another limited practice on Friday and is now listed as “questionable” for Sunday’s game against the Vikings.

David Montgomery injury update, fantasy outlook for Week 5

Montgomery was unable to take part in activities last week and missed Week 4 after suffering ankle and knee injuries in Week 3 of Chicago’s narrow 23-20 victory over the Houston Texans.

Based on the team’s injury report, Montgomery (ankle, knee) was among the numerous Bears players who did not train on Wednesday.

But not everything has been easy for Montgomery. He gained 37 yards on 20 carries in Weeks 1 and 3, then watched Herbert gain 157 yards in Week 3 and 77 yards in Week 4 in his absence.

Given that Montgomery is in a contract year, it’s reasonable to wonder if he’s feeling pressure to get back on the field and audition for the Bears or another team for 2022 and beyond.

Montgomery hopes to continue this trend against the Vikings in Week 5. If he is ruled out, Khalil Herbert will restart and is on the RB2 radar.

Herbert had a strong performance against the Giants, gaining 77 yards on 19 carries and adding a 24-yard reception.

This week, the young running back is an excellent RB2 play against the Vikings, who allow 131 rushing yards and 20.3 fantasy points per game to running backs (fifth most in the NFL).

Consider both backs flex-worthy if Montgomery is active.
