We enter Week 14 of the NFL season with as many key players injured as ever. Let’s take a look at Cam Akers, PJ Walker, Joe Mixon, and Leonard Fournette’s injuries and how serious they are.
Fantasy Injury Week 14 Update: Cam Akers, PJ Walker, Joe Mixon and Leonard Fournette
- Cam Akers
UPDATE 1: In the Rams’ 17-16 win over the Raiders on Thursday night, Cam Akers rushed 12 times for 42 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for one yard.
UPDATE: Akers carried the ball 17 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns in the Seahawks’ 27-23 loss on Sunday. He also caught his one and only target for 0 yards.
Cam Akers was one of a few players across the league who missed practice this week due to illness. Normally, a Wednesday illness designation has no significant consequences.
This is one to watch in the coming days because the impact on fantasy value could be massive. Kyren Williams becomes an extremely appealing fantasy option if Akers is out or limited this week.
UPDATE 3: Walker (ankle) is expected to play against the Seahawks in Week 14, according to Darin Gantt of the Panthers’ official website.
UPDATE 2: Walker (ankle) is officially inactive for Sunday’s game against Denver.
UPDATE: Sam Darnold has been named the Panthers’ starting quarterback for Week 12.
Baker Mayfield took over at quarterback for the Panthers in Week 11 while PJ Walker was out with an ankle sprain, and boy, was he bad.
We don’t know what path the Panthers will take at quarterback, but according to head coach Steve Wilks, we’ll learn more about Walker’s status during Wednesday’s practice.
We’ll know how Walker’s week off has helped his ankle at that point.
- Joe Mixon
UPDATE 5: Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Thursday that Mixon cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol last week. Mixon is on track to return to the field this Sunday against the Browns after fully practicing on Wednesday.
UPDATE 4: Mixon (concussion) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday.
UPDATE 3: Mixon (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice
UPDATE 2: Coach Zac Taylor noted Friday that Mixon (concussion) won’t play Sunday against the Titans, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals’ official site reports.
UPDATE: Mixon suffered a concussion during last week’s victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers and did not return.
Mixon didn’t do much before leaving after scoring five touchdowns in his previous game.
Even so, there has to be some concern about his availability in Week 12 against a hot Tennessee Titans team.
To play, Mixon will obviously have to go through the NFL concussion protocol.

We’ll provide more information as practices continue this week.
If Mixon is unable to play, Samaje Perine will receive the majority of the reps against an elite Titans run defense.
- Leonard Fournette
UPDATE 4: According to Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers’ official website, Leonard Fournette (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the 49ers.
UPDATE 3: In the Buccaneers’ 17-16 win over the Saints on Monday night, Fournette (hip) rushed 10 times for 49 yards and caught six of seven targets for 32 yards.
UPDATE 2: Fournette (hip) practiced in full Thursday.
UPDATE: Fournette (hip) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Browns, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers’ official site reports.
We’ll learn more about the severity of Fournette’s hip injury when the Bucs return to practice on Wednesday, but with the bye week in Week 11, Fournette’s status is in doubt.
According to Deepak Chona, a medical professional, depending on the type of hip injury, players are usually out for no more than one week.
According to the Buccaneers’ most recent practice report, Fournette was a limited participant today.
Fournette is expected to play in Week 12, according to all reports, but his continued practice participation should be monitored.
