“We Are The World” Gets Remade for Haiti

The 1985 charity single “We Are The World” – written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie made a whooping $30million dollars on its release. Stars have lined up for the opportunity to be in the remake of single, which is being remade under the watchful eye of Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie.

The single is set to be recreated tonight and will star Akon, Jason Mraz, Bono, Wyclef Jean, Carlos Santana, Enrique Iglesias, Usher, Toni Braxton and Lady Gaga to name a few. The recording will take place at the same studio where the original was recorded – The A&M Complex in Hollywood.

Nicole Richie Tweeted about the re-recording today saying:

I was 4 years old in a studio watching my dad record We Are The World, & today I get to do it again. Excited to help make a change.

All proceeds will go to re-building Haiti after the tragic earthquake hit Haiti on the 12th of  January.
