The Walking Dead…too good for a writing staff?

Writer/executive producer/director/dickhead Frank Darabont of the hit AMC series The Walking Dead has let go of all of his writers for the second season.

Zombie say whaaa?

That’s pretty unheard of on new shows, though network television series are known to go through some drastic transformations after the first season. Still…to let go of all of the writers of a pretty high-profile show seems…rash.

According to Deadline Hollywood,

“Darabont is looking to forgo having a writing staff for the second season of Walking Dead altogether and assign scripts to freelancers.”

Sounds like a really great, cohesive idea.  This from the dude whose only credit is Young Indiana Jones? Please.  Deadline Hollywood goes on to say that,

“Sources tell me that no final decision has been made yet with all options open, including using some combination of a writing staff/freelances. There is time – AMC is mulling launching Walking Dead‘s second season the way it did the first one – in October during Fearfest.”

Cross your fingers season two is as good as the first, people.
