Grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles and more than a dozen cousins. It’s a huge event and we have a complete blast every year.

We’ve already picked our Christmas Day adventure, but I found a few others you may want to consider yourself, if you’re looking for a great Christmas Day flick. No spoilers, I promise.

Hugo – PG (126 minutes)

What does Paris, France, an eccentric young girl, an aging toy shop owner and a boy surviving on the streets have in common? Not much, until you add a splash of fantasy, a slice of unusual and then mix it together in the 1930s-era. Then you’d have the new film: Hugo. Asa Butterfield stars with Ben Kingsley, Chloe Grace Moretz and Jude Law.

Happy Feet 2 – PG (100 minutes)

If you’re a Happy Feet fan like our family, don’t let the cute voices and smooth moves trick you into thinking this is a just a film for kids. Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and Pink are joined by Brad Pitt and Matt Damon, taking us on a wild ride with Mumble’s family and friends. Erik (Mumble’s son) has to find his talents and you can have a front row seat.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows – PG-13 (129 minutes)

A great movie for the older kids and grownups; join the millions of Sherlock Holmes fans and go see A Game of Shadows. Not only does Robert Downey Jr. prove once again he’s the perfect actor to play the brilliant detective Sherlock…he surpasses expectation. Jude Law and Jared Harris as Professor James Moriarty join the cast to produce a movie that can be described in a single word: unforgettable.

The Adventures of Tintin – PG (107 minutes)

If you’re looking for something unique, packed with adventure and humor, you can trust Steven Spielberg and Steven Moffat (Dr. Who) to deliver. Jamie Bell plays Tintin, with the never ending humor of Andy Serkis as Captain Haddock. Based on a legendary comic book series, Tintin is on a treasure hunt involving a lost ship…but he’s not the only one. Don’t miss this eye candy adventure.
