Story of the Day: Daniel Radcliffe Not Shocked by Gay Sex Scenes

Daniel Rafcliffe has come a long way from his ‘Harry Potter’ years. These days the actor is filming gay sex scenes and doesn’t believe there should be anything “shocking” about the scenes he’s filmed. Opening up on the gay scenes which he took part in for the latest John Krokidas-directed film, Daniel says that it was “fast-paced” so he didn’t think about it much:

“It was something new, but you know what, we shot that whole scene in maybe an hour and a half, so it was incredibly fast-paced. I didn’t really have time to stop to think and worry about it.”

Daniel comments that sex scenes in general shouldn’t be shocking because they’re something we’ve all seen plenty of times before and it doesn’t make it different just because it’s a gay scene this time around. He thinks it’s even “strange” that it is seen to be shocking:

“It’s interesting that it’s deemed shocking. For me, there’s something very strange about that because we see straight sex scenes all the time. We’ve seen gay sex scenes before. I don’t know why a gay sex scene should be any more shocking than a straight sex scene. Or both of them are equally un-shocking.”

He doesn’t understand the hype surrounding the scene and thinks it’s weird that people continue to ask him about it:

“What weirded me out the most last night was people were asking me all these questions about the gay sex scenes. I was like, ‘You know I did ‘Equus?’ Some people are asking me questions like this is a more shocking subject, which is so strange.”
