Twilight actor Robert Pattinson is hoping to play the role of late musician Jeff Buckley in a biopic of his life. Buckley accidentally drowned in a river in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997 at the age of 30 while on tour. According to reports, Robert has already been approached by the producers of the planned film, but he will have to impress them with his musical talent if he really wants the role.  One producer, Michelle Sys commented:

“I’ve met actors who are keen on the part and Robert was one… The actor must be able to play music and sing, or at least make it believable he can do that.”

Although Robert may be up against other actors  including James Franco and James Marsden for the covetable part, Robert does have one advantage – Buckley’s mother has already approved of him playing her late son. She commented on the possibility of the Twilight actor appearing in the film:

“Robert is a fine young actor. I’m flattered he’s been linked to the project. When the times comes we’ll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard.”
