Oh the Irony of It All!

As we all know, the world has been hit with a massive wave of trends, all revolving around the new found “going green” fad. We buy organic produce, carry reusable bags, recycle more, and wear natural fibers (or at least we attempt to do these things). Unfortunately, the new, eco-conscious trend has been more hype than actual environmental progress. I find it hysterical that while many have been found wearing garments made of bamboo and hemp, others are embracing the new trend, which seems to be fur. Lots of fur.

Americans really are quite contradictory. We embrace one thing and then the next minute, we’re being swept away by something completely different. Of course not everyone is like this, but I’d say as a population, we become obsesessed with trends until the next “hot” style blows through. I don’t have a stand on fur either way. I personally don’t enjoy wearing something’s hair, but if you do, that’s fine. I just find the eco-fur contradiction to be quite ironic.

Take a look at Giambattista Valli’s Pre-fall 2010 below:

Fur cocoon anyone?
