Nominations for 83rd Annual Academy Awards Revealed!

Posted by PZ on January 25th, 2011

The nominations for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards were announced this morning by Mo’Nique and Tom Sherak, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Very few surprises in the line up this year, with the predicted films such as Black Swan and The King’s Speech topping many of the different categories, as well as The Fighter, True Grit and Inception. Natalie Portman will have already started practicing her speech for Best Actress, while I’ll be rooting for underdog Jennifer Lawrence and her performance in the quietly haunting flick Winter’s Bone.

The King’s Speech starring a stuttering Colin Firth as King George VI has led this year’s nominations, with 12 nods to the film in total, while the Coen Brothers’ True Grit barely lags behind with 10 nominations. The ceremony will be held on February 27th, and hosted by James Franco who is nominated for his role in 127 hours, as well as Anne Hathaway. Below is the complete list of nominations.
